About Us

Wisden is a fully mutual Housing Co-operative built to cater mainly for single people with some provision for couples and small families.  As a Housing Co-operative, Wisden is collectively owned and controlled by the members who live there. 

 

All decisions are made by the Management Committee (elected members of the Co-operative) and by a number of sub-committees. As a Co-operative, Tenants are expected to contribute to some of the day-to-day management and maintenance tasks.  In doing so they earn a “surplus” for the Co-operative which can be used for improving properties and facilities, stabilising the rent or providing additional homes.

 

A Management Team is based at 1 Bader Close, which co-ordinates the day to day running on behalf of the Co-operative and the agreement of the Management Committee.

Wisden has 88 flats at Bader Close comprising of 18 bedsits, 60 one-bedroom flats and 10 two-bedroom flats. Chatsworth Court has 6 flats comprising of 4 one-bedroom flats and 2 two-bedroom flats.  All flats/bedsits are unfurnished.

 

As Wisden was funded by public money, we aim to house those whose options are limited by income or other factors.
